News
Congratulations to Svetlana Masyukova, who successfully defended her dissertation on November 2, 2011. Svetlana's project: Analysis of NPHP complex genetic interactions associated with human cilia disorders. Svetlana and her mentor, Dr. Brad Yoder, are pictured.
Announcing an exciting new partnership: Our students may now perform lab rotations and do their thesis work in laboratories of HudsonAlpha investigators in Huntsville, AL. The HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology is the cornerstone of a 150-acre biotech campus strategically located in Cummings Research Park, the nation’s second largest research park. Researchers at HudsonAlpha are making discoveries and transforming new knowledge into solutions to make significant advancements in health, well-being and livelihood. UAB GGS second year student, Ben Weaver has joined the lab of Dr. Greg Cooper. Read more about this partnership here.
UAB GGS students participated in the 2011 UAB Department of Genetics Retreat, held September 30, 2011 at the Bradley Conference Center. Students heard about the latest cutting-edge genetics findings from researchers at UAB and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and presented their own research findings as well.
Congratulations to GGS students Brandon Shaw, Michelle McClure, and Shuwen Cao for winning prizes for their posters presented at the 2011 UAB Department of Genetics Retreat. (Pictured: Michelle McClure and Shuwen Cao; Dr. Dan Bullard, Shuwen Cao, and Brandon Shaw)
Congratulations to Cris Harmelink and Paige DeBenedittis, who successfully denfended their dissertations on 7/8/11!
